David K.A. Mordecai was invited to present at the 8th Annual Global Alternative Investment Management (GAIM) Conference, June 11-14, 2002 in Geneva, Switzerland at the Hotel President Wilson.
David Mordecai led the half-day Master Class on Advanced Structured Credit Products entitled A Comprehensive and Critical Analysis of the Latest Technical and Strategic Developments in How to Enhance the Distribution of Your Hedge Funds Through the Use of Structured Credit.
This Master Class provided a comprehensive framework for understanding the huge benefits and latest practical applications of managed structured credit products (corporate bonds and loans, asset-and mortgage-backed securities, collateralized debt obligations, credit derivatives) both as a source of alpha and as a means of transporting alpha. Until recently the lack of structural homogeneity and pricing standards in the credit derivative markets has constrained liquidity in these markets, but increasingly cutting-edge hedge fund organizations see structured credit products as the key driver of hedge fund distribution in the future. The class was divided into four topics:
- Understanding Managed Structured Credit as an Enhanced Index, Stable-Value Product
- Benefits and Latest Applications of Structured Credit as an Alternative Asset
- Managed CDOs as an Asset Class
- Making it Work in Practice: Overcoming Common Application Pitfalls
The GAIM International conference is the largest and longest running hedge fund event in the world, and regularly attracts institutional investors, private bankers, high net worth individuals, family offices and sovereign wealth funds as well as fund managers including big brands and boutique investment houses from across the globe.
