Samantha Kappagoda was a Speaker on Audit Beyond Financial Risks Panel at the Private Directors Association

Samantha Kappagoda, Chief Economist of Risk Economics, Inc. and Independent Director of Credit Suisse Funds, was invited to speak at the Private Directors Association (PDA) Audit Beyond Financial Risks panel discussion hosted by Grant Thornton in New York City on October 17, 2024.

The panel discussed how boards can prepare to address a range of risks including: geopolitical risk, regulatory changes, cybersecurity, AI and emerging technology. The moderator was Gene Quinn, Advisor, Board Director and Private Investor at Confluence Partners, and Samantha’s fellow panelists were:

  • Markus Veith, Partner at Grant Thornton
  • Shiva Rajgopal, Kester and Byrnes Professor at Columbia Business School

Samantha Kappagoda currently serves as an Independent Director / Trustee, Nominating Committee Chair, and Audit Committee Member of Credit Suisse Funds, which are comprised of two closed-end funds (NYSE: DHY and CIK) and six open-end funds investing in commodity, quantitative and high yield and credit strategies, as well as a Member of the Business Board of the Governing Council at the University of Toronto. She is also Chief Economist and Co-Founder of Risk Economics® and Visiting Scholar at Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences NYU, advising research activities at RiskEcon® Lab for Decision Metrics @ Courant Institute.
