Samantha Kappagoda was a Speaker on AI and Data Governance at the 3rd Annual WGOB Summit Toronto

Samantha Kappagoda, Chief Economist of Risk Economics, Inc. and Independent Director / Trustee of Credit Suisse Mutual Funds, was invited to speak at the 3rd Annual Women Get On Board Summit in Toronto on May 15, 2024. Women Get On Board Inc. (WGOB) was founded in 2015 with a mission to elevate the next generation of women corporate directors.

Samantha’s panel, Data and AI Governance, addressed how board members can consider incorporating AI into corporate strategy, and what risks and challenges might be faced in doing so. Samantha’s fellow panelists were Sam Ip,  Partner in the Technology practice at Osler Hoskin & Harcourt, and Della Shea.

Samantha Kappagoda, Chief Data Scientist of Numerati® Partners and Independent Director/Trustee of Credit Suisse Mutual Funds, was invited to speak at Executive Forum Navigating Artificial Intelligence (AI) from A to Z: Executive and Board Perspectives panel on May 10, 2024.

Samantha discussed the challenges in adopting AI and other  emerging technologies from the board and operating perspective. The panel was moderated by Wally Yosafat, Executive Forum member and Tech SIG Co-Lead. Samantha’s fellow panelists were:

The session was moderated by Adriana Rizzo, and Samantha was joined by co-panelists Susan Youngblood, Pouya Lavian, and Anne Mai Bertelsen. Samantha’s comments focused on the challenges in assessing the tradeoffs between potential benefits and corresponding risk and liability implications of adopting AI and other emerging technologies.
